Visual artist, Michelle Blakeney is a Yaegl and Wiradjuri woman from the far north coast of NSW. Blakeney has been a photographer for several years, and has a continuing passion and ambition to document her own people’s unique culture and history through photography. Blakeney has also worked in the areas of performance and filmmaking, directing a short film Starr.

Blakeney was in residence at Bundanon in 2013 to initiate a project based on the history of the Bomaderry Children’s Home in which her aunt resided in her youth.

She was also in residence in 2008.

Bundanon acknowledges the people of the Dharawal and Dhurga language groups as the traditional owners of the land within our boundaries, and recognises their continuous connection to culture, community and Country.

In Dharawal the word Bundanon means deep valley.
