Julienne van Loon is a novelist and essayist based in Melbourne. Julienne’s essays and short stories have appeared in journals such as The Monthly, Griffith Review and The Sydney Review of Books, and in anthologies published by Pan MacMillan, Fremantle Press, ABC Books and Black Inc.

During her residency, novelist and essayist Julienne van Loon worked on the completion of a novel titled ‘Instructions for a Steep Decline.’ A deliberately experimental work, the book is informed by neurology, Buddhist philosophy and the recent ‘boom-time’ social and economic culture of Australia’s cities. The work has since been published in the Griffith Review.

Bundanon acknowledges the people of the Dharawal and Dhurga language groups as the traditional owners of the land within our boundaries, and recognises their continuous connection to culture, community and Country.

In Dharawal the word Bundanon means deep valley.
