Jenny Ackland is a writer and teacher who has worked as a freelance editor and in-house proof-reader for trade magazines and taught English in Japan. Her short fiction and essays have been published in literary journals as well as listed in prizes in Australia and internationally.

At Bundanon Ackland worked on CIRCUS MAXIMUS – a literary novel about abortion and circuses, set mostly in Australia. It’s concerned with ideas of ‘freedom and its opposites’ and what we do with our ‘unwanted’ – our animals and our elderly, as well as pregnancies.

Bundanon acknowledges the people of the Dharawal and Dhurga language groups as the traditional owners of the land within our boundaries, and recognises their continuous connection to culture, community and Country.

In Dharawal the word Bundanon means deep valley.
