Janine Mikosza

Janine Mikosza is a Melbourne-based writer.

Her fiction and essays are published in The Best Australian Essays 2017, Meanjin, Electric Literature and Review of Australian Fiction. She has been awarded writing fellowships and shortlisted for national and international awards, including the Commonwealth Short Story Prize and the Bridport Prize. Janine holds a Ph.D. in sociology and also studied and worked as a photo media artist, exploring themes of presence and absence and memory in family snapshots, and exhibiting her work in solo and group shows in Canberra, Perth, and Brisbane. Her work in progress, a non-fiction book titled Homesickness, is a continuation and expansion of these conceptual concerns.


IN RESIDENCE 2018

Janine will be using her time at Bundanon to work on the final chapter of her non-fiction manuscript. Combining old photographs, memory drawings, memoir, literary criticism and original research, the manuscript explores the psychological space of childhood homes.
