James Beck – Artistic Director & Cello – studied at the University of Melbourne, Victorian College of the Arts, University of Western Australia and Sydney Conservatorium of Music. As a member of the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra 1999-2012, Beck has performed in many of the major cultural institutions and concert halls of Australia, UK, France & Germany. Beck was the co-founder & Artistic Director of the 2007/2008 Flametree Festivals at Bundanon – a festival created to draw focus to Bundanon’s role in the performing arts life of Australia. The festival is credited with introducing a new generation of musicians to Bundanon – including Katie Noonan and Ironwood.

Beck was in residence at Bundanon in 2017 with the Australian Art Quartet. Beck was also in residence in 2006 and 2007.

Bundanon acknowledges the people of the Dharawal and Dhurga language groups as the traditional owners of the land within our boundaries, and recognises their continuous connection to culture, community and Country.

In Dharawal the word Bundanon means deep valley.
