Helen Loughlin has been published in Southerly, Antithesis, Tangent, Rant, Hobo, Essential Poetry, and Hermes and has edited the Phoenix Review, Tangent and Hermes and was poetry editor for Rant and Antithesis. She has won poetry prizes judged by John Tranter, Judith Beveridge, Kate Lilley and Kate Llewellyn and was co-organiser of Writers in the Park at the Harold Park Hotel and has had two residencies at Varuna.

While at Bundanon, Loughlin worked on City of the Dead, a long poem sequence around the idea of the necropolis that grew out of a fascination with Rookwood Cemetery, which forms the central part of her first collection. The collection explores the dead, the formation of cities, and how both reflect culture and history.

Bundanon acknowledges the people of the Dharawal and Dhurga language groups as the traditional owners of the land within our boundaries, and recognises their continuous connection to culture, community and Country.

In Dharawal the word Bundanon means deep valley.
