Boyd Education Centre
The Arthur and Yvonne Boyd Education Centre is set on Bundanon Trust's magnificent Riversdale property overlooking the Shoalhaven River.
Designed by internationally celebrated Australian architect Glenn Murcutt in association with Reg Lark and Wendy Lewin, the award-winning Boyd Education Centre provides arts education programs, hosts special events for visitors, and is available for large group residencies, corporate functions, seminars and conferences.
At the heart of the Centre is the glass-fronted hall overlooking the Shoalhaven River. The hall can accommodate up to 100 people for dining, music rehearsal and performance, workshops, lectures and conferences.
The main hall dimensions are 18m x 9m. The floor surface is pavers and may not be suitable for high-impact physical activity. Optional flooring can be discussed for performance-based residencies.
A fully self-contained kitchen adjoins the main hall in the centre.
The accommodation wing adjoins the hall and provides for 32 people in eight quad rooms, convertible to 16 twin rooms, overlooking the Shoalhaven River. There is also separate overflow accommodation that can sleep a further six people in bunks.
Bathroom and toilet facilities are shared.
There is one washing machine located at Riversdale for use by groups in residence. You will need to provide your own washing powder.
FOOD AND SUPPLIES
All residents look after their own food needs while in residence. We provide all linen, towels and toilet paper.
There are large supermarkets, butchers, fishmongers and grocers in Nowra. There is also a small centre with a small supermarket, pharmacy, butcher and hairdresser at North Nowra (a little closer to Bundanon).
Riversdale has no cafe and is 30 minutes' drive from the nearest shops or restaurants. For larger groups, we can put you in contact with local caterers who can bring prepared meals to you.
The Boyd Education Centre features a fully equipped commercial kitchen with cookware, crockery and cutlery. If you require specialised equipment such as blenders, juicers, rice makers and pasta makers, you should bring them with you.
The following equipment is available:
While basic equipment like trestle tables, plastic chairs and wooden easels are available, artists should bring other specialised equipment with them.
We are able to supply a data projector, a projection screen and a sound system, depending on availability. Please let us know well in advance if you would like to use any of these.
