French Artist in Residence 2018
An opportunity for a French artist to undertake a six-week residency at Bundanon in the beautiful Shoalhaven area of Australia.
The French Artist in Residence - FAR Bundanon-Australia program was initiated in 2015 by the Embassy of France in Australia and Bundanon Trust. The aim is to build longer term relationships between Bundanon Trust and French cultural institutions as well as between Australian and French artists.
Bundanon was the home of Arthur Boyd, one of Australia's most significant 20th century artists. His work has shaped Australia's cultural identity and Australians' sense of landscape. Bundanon is his gift to the Australian people. His vision for Bundanon was that it be an inspirational haven for artists to pursue their practice.
Bundanon is 170 kilometres south of Sydney on the Australian south-east coast. Explore our website to find out more about us.
The French Artist in Residence - FAR Bundanon-Australia will take place from 9 November 2018 to 21 December 2018.
Applications are now open and will close at 11 pm on Monday 11 December 2017 (Australian Eastern Daylight Time).
Applicants will be notified of the results of their application by the end of January 2018.
The French Artist in Residence - FAR Bundanon-Australia is part of a wider program implemented by the Embassy of France in Australia called FAR - French Artists in Residence in Australia. This program aims to give French artists a range of opportunities in Australia. Applicants for the Bundanon residency may be offered other residencies in Australia as these other opportunities become available.
The French Artist in Residence - FAR Bundanon-Australia is made possible by the financial support of the Embassy of France and Bundanon Trust. It includes:
Note that health and travel insurance is not included and you should organise this for the full duration of your stay.
Catering is also your responsibility.
You will need to apply for an Australian visa for your visit, and this cost is also not included. There is more information on the Australian Government's website.
The French Artist in Residence - FAR Bundanon-Australia program is open to individual arts professionals who are French citizens but not residents in Australia. We particularly encourage artists from New Caledonia and French Polynesia to apply.
The residency is for artists working in all disciplines: film-makers, visual artists, writers, performers, producers, directors, composers, new media artists and curators. It can be for research and development or for the creation of new work.
