First Peoples residencies

Eric Avery in residence in 2017

A special opportunity for NSW Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists to undertake supported residencies at Bundanon in 2019.

There’s no other cultural institution in Australia that is as relevant, accessible and influential on an artist’s creativity and career.
- Wesley Enoch, Artistic Director, Sydney Festival

Bundanon's Artist-in-Residence program is the largest and most diverse in Australia. Since 1997 we have hosted thousands of artists from all disciplines and from all over the world (over 34 countries). Bundanon is now an engine room for contemporary art practice in Australia - a place with outstanding facilities, dedicated to the making of contemporary work across all disciplines.

Our First Peoples Residencies offer Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander artists based in NSW the opportunity to undertake supported residencies.

Residencies can be for any period between seven days and six weeks. Successful applicants will receive:

  • Accommodation and studio space at Bundanon Trust
  • Stipend of $1000 per week
  • Travel support

We are also offering a small number of residencies for senior artists with a stipend of $2000 per week. These will be awarded competitively based on the applicants' achievements across their career.

There is more information about our accommodation and studios here.

This program is made possible by the support of the NSW Government through Create NSW.
