Prelude is a national initiative to provide time and space for Australian composers to make work by offering twelve-month residencies in historic houses around Australia.
Prelude is a national network of residencies for Australian composers, housed in historic buildings and providing time and space to create new work. It is a collaboration between the Peggy Glanville-Hicks Composers Trust, National Trust of Western Australia, National Trusts of Australia, APRA AMCOS and Bundanon Trust.
Prelude is assisted by the Australian government through the Ministry for the Arts' Catalyst - Australian Arts and Culture Fund, and through the Australia Council for the Arts.
It is apparent that leisure and silence are absolute prerequisites for composers if they are to engage fully the many forms of awareness involved in creative activity.- Peggy Glanville-Hicks, 1958
