Read MoreMichelle Cawthorn is an interdisciplinary Australian artist whose practice is informed by an autoethnographic approach to artmaking.
During her residency, Cawthorn used Bundanon’s proximity to sites of childhood and adolescent experience to conduct field research. The research focused on the endemic and migratory birds remembered from childhood that Cawthorn considers to be metaphors for the transitory nature of memory and lived experience. This intermingling of past and present was explored through a series of hybrid drawings, collage works and experimental sculptures. The works are planned to be exhibited at Shoalhaven Regional Gallery in 2021.
