It sold to the BBC (UK), the CW (US) and HBO Latin America and has been nominated for several awards including Best Narrative Comedy Series at the 2025 AACTA Awards. Bump was Kelsey’s first commissioned TV show. She has also written episodes of the crime drama Scrublands (2023) and Year Of (2023) and is currently developing several screen projects.

She was previously a Lowy Institute research fellow and a senior analyst at the Australian Strategic Policy Institute in Canberra where she led a major project on authoritarian technology and human rights. As a journalist she was a reporter and editor for the Sydney Morning Herald, The Guardian and Rolling Stone.

In Residence at Bundanon

I’m researching and developing an idea for an original film set in the NSW bush, exploring ideas of how technology is impacting family and private life and ways we might escape it (or not). It’s about rare birds, and hunting them (non lethally) like Pokemon. And it’s a fable about the intersections between authoritarianism and late capitalism in their application of consumer tech for the surveillance and suppression of freedom, individuality and cultural identity. I’ll be reading, drawing, bushwalking, writing and birdwatching at Bundanon.
