Hope Diamond

Art Forms: Composition, Music/Sound, Performance

Residency Year: 2009

Lives / Works: Melbourne, Australia

Hope Diamond is a Melbourne based group of highly accomplished musicians who have been writing and performing together in various combinations over many years. The members – Zoe Barry, Steve Griffiths and Jed Plamer – write lush, filmic shoegaze pop. They individually and collectively have wide-ranging experience in performing and writing music for theatre, dance and film.

Hope Diamond, theatre company Ladykillers and writer Stefan Laszczuk were in residence together in 2009 collaborating on a new performance piece, Based On A True Story. The work was an intimate, musically driven piece of theatre featuring the band performing live. The text was drawn from contributions left anonymously at basedontruestory.com.au, and the subject matter it fathers.
