Read MoreJodie McNeilly is a researcher, writer and choreographer working at the intersections of dance and philosophy. She has created several choreographies, and is widely published. Her interests includes experimental dramaturgical practices for art making.
McNeilly was in residence in 2014 with photographer Heidrun Löhr. Together they worked on The line project (w — > w) . Drawing a line from Woolloomooloo to Wilcannia the artists planned to travel this haphazardly laid line from water’s edge to outback to document through photography, text, and community provocation where and how dance falls along this line. As modern day explorers they planned to plumb and expose historical, geographical and cultural layers, collecting stories, images, and experiences in a cartographical adventure that inhabits and weaves different lines on the map. The project hoped to take the discussion of dance into the broader community, demystifying and expanding its meaning in an Australian context.
