Fiona Harman

Art Forms: Drawing, Painting, Visual Art

Residency Year: 2019

Lives / Works: Australia

Fiona Harman is a visual artist working primarily across painting and drawing. Her work explores the atmospherics of longing, apprehension and impossibility in relation to suburbia. Using motifs derived from suburban developments and infrastructure spaces, Harman draws on the poetic possibilities of painting, drawing and collaborative installation to bring attention to the paradoxical menacing and seductive nature of these environments.

Harman’s residency was used to develop work that responds both to previous ideas around place and home, and the influence of a rural setting.
