Read MoreTracy Ellis is a writer and editor living and working in Sydney on Gadigal land. In 2022, her story ‘Natural Wonder’ won the ABR Elizabeth Jolley Short Story Prize. The following year, her essay ‘Flow States’ won the ABR Calibre Essay Prize. She works as a copyeditor in digital and print media for a non-profit and freelances as a book editor. She is a graduate of VCA’s School of Drama and holds an MA in Creative Writing from UTS. She also plays in Sydney band Knievel with her husband and friends.
I’m writing and researching a personal story that is also a historically accurate biography of a place and time, examining how cultural shifts and external events shape a family and impact an individual’s journey from childhood; be it how gentrification influences housing security; how welfare effects opportunity or how corruption corrodes trust. But also, how subversive acts can bring about positive change.
