Artmaking at the Homestead
With Jessika Spencer

Join Wiradjuri fibre artist, Jessika Spencer, for a woven jewellery making workshop.

Jessika Spencer, will share her knowledge and techniques in this jewellery making workshop.

In this intimate workshop participants will be guided to make their very own woven adornment collection using contemporary fibres that have been eco dyed and inspired by Country. The session be focused on making a matching jewellery set consisting of earrings and an armband.

This cultural workshop is a gentle introduction to weaving and is suitable for all skillsets.

Jessika was a finalist in the recent National Indigenous Fashion Awards in the Traditional Adornment category.

 


 

About Jessika Spencer

Jessika Spencer is a Wiradjuri woman from the Sandhills of Narrungdera (Narrandera), New South Wales, she is a weaver, writer and activist. For over the past decade she has resided on beautiful Ngunnawal/ Ngambri country, where she currently creates her art.

Being an Indigenous woman, culture and art go hand in hand. They are intertwined and are an ongoing source of inspiration for her. Through her varied art forms, Jessika explores her cultural identity.

 


 

Artmaking at the Homestead Series

Be inspired by the striking landscape of Bundanon’s Homestead site with a series of artmaking workshops led by different Artists in Residence. Spread over 1000 hectares, this beautiful setting of the Shoalhaven River and rugged bushland has featured in many of Arthur Boyd’s works and inspired artists in residence for decades.
