Runway Journal cultivates and preserves experimental practice on our digital platform. We commission and publish critical, artistic and multidisciplinary works that respond to thematic callouts and engage with current threads of Australian and international contemporary art. The journal is a resource for the exchange of knowledge and ideas. Through knowledge-sharing and collaboration, Runway carves out an independent space for its contributors, which, reflective of the experimental realm in which it exists, cannot be defined by medium and is constantly evolving.
Each year Runway Journal produces two themed digital issues that feature newly-commissioned works. Our first issue for 2022 is Issue 45: Asemic, guest edited by Nancy Mauro-Flude, with contributors selected through an open call for proposals.
Runway Journal will use this residency to develop the issue. As an online platform with no bricks and mortar space, this is a significant opportunity to gather in person with guest editor Nancy and a number of issue contributors. Residency activities both in person and online will elevate the resulting works through professional development and knowledge-sharing across the week.
