Greer Taylor’s practice includes installation–sculpture and poetry. In 2014 Taylor published a collection of poetry and ephemeral artworks; her 3D work has been shown in numerous sculpture exhibitions/prizes, and has been the recipient of major awards. Her work explores ideas of wilderness, interrelationships of nature to human, vulnerability, grief and change.

not-doing … sensing was the project Taylor took to Bundanon for her residency.

Our current paradigm encourages ‘doing’ but in our reactive doing we are severed from the more-than-human world with which we co-evolved, and from seeing alternatives. This project explores ‘not-doing’, allowing ‘sensing’ to come to the fore in an attempt to allow my human form to sense more deeply into the more-than-human world.

In a world dominated by ‘reactive doing’, Taylor’s intention was to explore what intentional ‘not-doing’ feels like, to allow for alternative possibilities to arise from this ‘not-doing’ space. She carried a chair no matter the weather into the landscape in and around Bundanon at various times of the day and night, to sit, often with a blindfold, to sense.
