Halcyon is the only Australian Ensemble dedicated to the promotion and performance of new music for voices and instruments. Since 1998, Halcyon has blossomed into a highly acclaimed and dynamic ensemble, performing at festivals, in concert halls and as guest artists at award nights, in Sydney, Melbourne, Canberra and regional NSW. Each year Halcyon generate their own concert series, performing cutting edge and recent works with some of Australia’s finest musicians. Halcyon is heard regularly on local and national radio, with many concerts recorded and broadcast by ABC’s Classic FM. During their Bundanon residency Halcyon members Alison Morgan and Jenny Duck-Chong will focus on their upcoming project- a major program of works to be performed in September 2011. The program features George Crumb’s Madrigals 1 and 2, Joseph Schwantner’s Sparrows and a new semi-staged work by Australian composer Andrew Schultz who will join them in residence.
